Penetration testing & red team engagements

Testing that ends in a fix, not a PDF.

We break into the things attackers would break into: networks, applications, cloud, and your people. Then we hand your team findings they can actually close, not a stack of jargon to translate.

What we do

Two engagement types, covering the two questions that actually matter: is anything broken, and would anyone notice before it mattered.

Offensive testing

Penetration testing

Structured testing of web applications, infrastructure, cloud environments and wireless networks against a defined scope. Every finding is severity-rated and mapped to a fix, so a report starts a conversation with an auditor rather than ending one with a client.

Adversary simulation

Red team engagements

Objective-based operations that test people, process and technology together, not just the perimeter. We measure what your detection and response actually catches, not what the runbook says it should.

Applications

Web apps and APIs, tested against the OWASP Testing Guide and ASVS rather than a single automated scan.

Networks & infrastructure

Internal and external estate: what's reachable, what's misconfigured, and what chains together into something worse.

Cloud

Identity, permissions and configuration in cloud environments, where most real exposure now sits.

People

Phishing and social engineering scenarios that test whether a policy actually holds up against a real attempt.

How an engagement runs

Four stages, every time. No engagement ends at the PDF.

  1. 01

    Scope

Agree targets, rules of engagement and objectives before anyone touches a keyboard, following the pre-engagement steps set out in PTES.

  2. 02

    Test

Senior testers work the scope by hand against the OWASP Testing Guide, mapping red team activity to MITRE ATT&CK tactics rather than running a fixed script.

  3. 03

    Report

Findings are severity-rated and written for the person who has to fix them, not just the one who commissioned it.

  4. 04

    Retest

We confirm the fix actually closes the finding, so the next audit isn't a repeat of this one.

Why BlueCell

Senior-led, every time

No engagement is handed to a junior running a scanner. The person who scoped it tests it.

A severity scale that holds up

Every finding carries a rating, in words as well as colour, so it still means something printed in greyscale.

Critical High Medium Low

Built for the auditor too

Reports map cleanly onto the frameworks your compliance team already answers to.

A fix, not just a finding

Every issue ships with remediation your engineers can act on the same day.

Certified operators

Testers hold industry certifications that require passing a hands-on exam, not a multiple-choice test.

Questions we get asked

What's the difference between a pentest and a red team engagement?

A penetration test checks a defined scope, such as an application or network, for as many exploitable issues as possible in the time available. A red team engagement is objective-based: it tests whether a specific goal, like reaching a crown-jewel system, can be achieved and whether your people and detection tooling notice along the way.

Do you need written authorisation before testing starts?

Yes, always. Scope, targets and rules of engagement are agreed and signed off before any testing begins, in line with standard pre-engagement practice under PTES.

How long does an engagement take?

It depends on scope. A focused application test typically runs days, an infrastructure or cloud review longer, and a red team engagement longer still since it includes planning and a quieter operational phase. Timing is agreed during scoping, not guessed at afterwards.

What's in the report?

Every finding is severity-rated, described in enough technical detail to reproduce, and paired with remediation advice your engineers can act on. A summary section is written for people who won't read the technical detail but do need to sign off on it.

Do you retest fixes?

Yes. Retesting confirms a fix actually closes the finding rather than just changing its symptoms, so the next audit doesn't repeat this one.

Will testing disrupt our systems?

Rules of engagement set what's in and out of bounds, including any activity that could affect availability. Where a system is fragile or business-critical, we agree testing windows and safe limits in advance rather than finding out the hard way.

Ready to find out what's actually exposed?

Tell us what you need tested and we'll come back with scope and timing, usually within a day.
